Jacky de la Torre was an intern at LARC in the summer of 2009. She received a B.A. in Linguistics and French in 2010 from Dartmouth College, where she researched the phonetics and syntax of Maori, SiSwati, Hmong, Swahili, Georgian, and New England dialects of English. She lived in France as an English teaching assistant and traveled throughout Europe after graduating. She has been recruiting speakers of Arabic, Mandarin, Farsi, and other critical languages to work for the U.S. government and advancing the study of critical languages among American high school and college students at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington, DC for several years.
